Kathy Perras Beads
I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband, Warren. We moved to Portland from Toledo, Ohio in 1989 in order for me to study under world-class glass artists and be part of the West Coast's pioneering art glass movement. I had the honor of being able to study under such masters as Loren Stump, Brian Kerkvliet, Sage Holland, Michael Barley, Andrea Guarino-Slemmons and many others over the last 20 years.
I am a professional glass bead artist creating lamp worked, glass beads in my home studio. I currently make bracelet beads for collectors, enthusiasts, and designers of Trollbead bracelet creations. Over the last 25 years, I created many different types of glass art including stained glass panels and lamps and fused glass jewelry. I spent 5 years as an off-hand glassblower at the Toledo Museum of Art in Toledo, Ohio creating glass art objects and exploring various glass techniques. Over the years, I have traveled nationwide selling my glass beads at shows. I have also sold my work online. In 2012, I decided to focus on the creation of glass bracelet beads for Troll customers and sell exclusively on Etsy in my shop, PerrasBeads.
I was the founding member and President for 7 years of ORBS - Oregon Regional Beadmaker's Society, a chapter of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers (ISGB). In 2002, I met Lise Aagaard and agreed to work for her as a designer for Trollbeads in Denmark. My original design, The Siberian Tiger was retired by Trollbeads in 2006. In 2011, I became an "ambassador and bead demo artist" for Trollbeads USA and traveled across the country on a tour meeting TB distributors and customers. I now spend all my working time creating unique artisan, silver lined bracelet beads in my home studio.
